The
Hills Rotary 8 Washing Line is
the definitive icon of rotary clothes airers. It is a large, 8 line,
folding clothes line, giving a total of 58 metres of drying line. In
Australia "Hills hoist" is the term used to describe a rotary airer
(much as we might use the word Hoover instead of vacuum cleaner) and
these high quality products are now available in the UK. This washing
line comes assembled and pre-wired, ready to install. Put your garden
to use and dry your laundry with no cost of electricity and no risk of
damp to your walls.
Robust and durable
The Rotary 8 Hills hoist is the largest of the family of 3 Hills rotary
airers that we offer. It requires an open space at least 5 metres wide
(4 metres diameter for the airer and a further 0.5 metres of clearance
all around). The 58 metres of line and large span between arms allows
the airer to hold king size sheets. So now you can dry
even the largest family wash in one
go.
The airer is made from powder coated, rust resistant, high grade steel
tubing which is galvanized with zinc for complete protection from the
elements. It has a traditional winding handle mechanism (so no back
breaking lifting required to erect it). The line is a premium grade
polycore with 22 polyester filaments braded and sheathed in UV
stabilised plastic.
The Rotary 8 comes with a ground socket, and installation instructions.
The airer is best mounted in a concrete base to ensure a stable footing

Hills Handy Hints
- One of the benefits of a Rotary Hoist is that it spins naturally in the breeze,
allowing the sun to shine on all your clothes and speed up drying time.
- Raise your hoist for maximum drying efficiency and to ensure
clearance
for longer items. The wind brake assists in the pegging and unpegging
of clothes on windy days by restricting the free rotation of the
clothesline. It can be engaging by winding the ‘head’ of the hoist
fully down.
- Place smaller items of clothing on the lines nearest the centre
and
work your way outwards for larger items. When hanging thick or bulky
items, you may hang the item over more than one line.
- When you do not expect to fill the capacity of your hoist, hang
your
clothes on the outer lines, this will allow your clothesline to spin
more easily.
