TheVictorian Kitchen Maid Clothes Airer
The Victorian Kitchen Maid Clothes Airer provides
four laths on which to dry clothes.
It is about the same width (
it
is 38cm wide) as the Traditional style airer so
it can still fit in tight spaces. The end pieces are more curved though
so
it takes up 24cm from
ceiling to the bottom of the airer when fully hoisted. The
benefit of this is that the gap between laths is greater so you can fit
thicker items between them - folded towels for instance. Cast in
Style's clothes airers are
classic
in their look. If you don't have a laundry room or you want a
decorative feature
in your kitchen or living room, you needn't hide the Victorian Kitchen
Maid Clothes Airer away - it's a feature in itself, even when retracted
up to the
ceiling and not in use. The cast iron frame that holds the laths

A period piece in clothes drying
The clothes airer uses a
pulley
system
(hence the term pulley airer) to operate, which allows you to move the
clothes drier up and down as and when you need to use it. When you have
no clothes to dry, retract it right up where it
sits gracefully in the top ten
inches from the ceiling. When you need it, the rope and
pulleys allow you to
drop
the clothes rack down for loading.
